Albany County’s Shaker Place Rehabiitation and Nursing Center recently renovated the former Shaker Wing, approximately 6,800 sqft. into a New Child Daycare Center. “The center will provide an added incentive to help attract and retain skilled nursing staff,” said County Executive, Dan McCoy.
The project kicked off with a compete interior demolition down to the buildings shell. Followed by the construction of a new front entrance vestibule addition with a canopied entrance which matches the others around the establishment. The existing wing was renovated into a 5 classroom daycare wing, which includes a large multi-purpose play room, kitchen, break room and bathroom with shower for staff members.
Each Classroom includes storage closets, custom millwork, and bathrooms. On the exterior the daycare facility is completely fenced in with 2 large brand new playground areas for different age groups. Each classroom has also been constructed with exterior doors that lead directly out into the playground areas.
