Expansion of the Albany International Airport prompted
the Verdoy Fire District to relocate to a new station in a timely
and cost effective manner. To facilitate an orderly, efficient process,
the district chose the team approach and selected MLB for Construction
Manager.
Working in close partnership with the owner's
representatives, MLB and the design/engineering team members worked
quickly to verify various site considerations and to develop a valid
budget. Early identification of savings opportunities made it possible
for the district to incorporate a number of project enhancements
through the alternate process.
The new state-of-the-art, aesthetically pleasing
station houses a complete multi-level emergency response facility
including a five-bay drive-thru vehicle garage, firematic training
resources, administrative offices, conference rooms, and public meeting
spaces with a fully-equipped kitchen.
