Representing the focal point for the downtown Albany
rejuvenation, the 160,000 square foot, 17,000 seat Times Union Center
(formerly Pepsi Arena) is home to concerts, trade shows, professional
hockey, lacrosse and arena football franchises, collegiate hockey,
wrestling and basketball tournaments, as well as an Olympic size
ice rink.
MLB was engaged in the joint venture project
to provide construction management including fast-track services
that would allow for the ongoing development of significant design
features during early construction. The unique scope of the project
involved the award of more than 57 separate contracts for the County
of Albany.
Through a combination of careful planning
and scheduling, and excellent subcontractor relations, the Arena
was completed as scheduled to take advantage of the upcoming events
season.
