The Governor James G. Martin Building made its debut
at the North Carolina State Fair on October 6, 2006, and, was awarded
the prestigious “Certificate of Merit” from
the NC State Construction Office in February of 2007.
This newly constructed 10,000 square foot building is
ideal for exhibitions, small trade shows, meetings, training or social
events. Also known as the North Carolina State Fairgrounds
Midway Support Building, it provides essential amenities to the north
side of the Fairgrounds. It includes large public restrooms,
two family restrooms, a mother’s lounge and a multi-purpose
room to serve the needs of the N.C. State Fairgrounds. The facility’s
design incorporates easily maintained tile interiors, considerable
day-lighting and easy access for everyone, including those with disabilities.
MLB was nominated for the “Certificate
of Merit” by the NC Department of Agriculture and
Consumer Services for their exemplary work in delivering a completed
building, passing all review steps and final inspections in a period
of just five months. This is the first time in over 10 years
that the Department nominated a General Contractor for their service. MLB
was recognized by SCO officials involved with the project as being
one of the best Contractors they have ever worked with, especially
on such a complex project, and within very tight time constraints.
