This award-winning, publicly funded facility
has become one of the Albany International Airport's greatest assets.
The five-deck, 1200 car covered parking garage (subsequently expanded)
enjoys very high usage and is a substantial revenue producer for the
Airport Authority.
The structure features an exposed architectural,
cast-in-place concrete circular collector and galleria which encases
the elevators, stairs and escalators. The adjoining precast parking
decks, connecting elevated walkway, adjacent surface parking lots,
and requisite entry and exit/remittance structures and equipment were
all successfully constructed with the airport in full operation.
In recognition of Excellence in Conception,
Originality and Applicability of Concrete in both Design and Construction,
MLB Industries and the project team received the American Concrete
Institute Annual Award.
