The
expansion project involved the construction of the Scoville Learning
Center, a new 64,000 square foot facility, renovations to four existing
campus buildings and major site and infrastructure changes. The Scoville
Learning Center includes a new library, the Hill Collection room
that houses a historic book collection, multimedia services, an auditorium,
and computer classrooms. The renovations required moving of personnel
into temporary quarters while construction was going on. MLB had
to minimize any disruption of students, faculty and administrators
as well as to the physical environment. By having MLB involved in
the project early on, the Owner was able to decrease the schedule
by one year, which in turn saved costs and helped to move staff out
of cramped spaces long before anticipated. This project came in well
before originally scheduled and under budget.
